It’s strictly for medicinal purposes - I swear!
I know that traditionally the beginning of a new year is a time when many people like to make resolutions about the changes they want to make in their lives.
But let’s be real - this is NOT a traditional new year. There is so much going on.
So rather than setting ourselves up with resolutions that we may or may not be able to keep... and rather than falling into despair about all of the uncertainty swirling around our lives… I want to offer an alternative.
I suggest you take 6 minutes and 18 seconds, to watch this video which explains the three components of self-compassion.
self-kindness -vs- self-judgement
common humanity -vs- isolation
mindfulness -vs- over-identification
The video features Dr. Kristin Neff who speaks and write extensively about self-compassion. If you like the video, you can find a wealth of her other material on YouTube. Special thanks to my friend Scott, who recently introduced me to these videos!
Remember, we’re Mortal and we’re in this together! (I’ll drink to that!)
