Happy New Year!
(To be honest, 2024 still sounds like a sci-fi stardate to me - Buck Rogers should be here by now.)
Have you decided to make any changes for the new year? Don’t worry, I won’t use the R-word (resolutions). We’re beyond resolutions by now - we make actual plans, right?
I know many people like to take the time between Dec 25th and January 1st as a period of reflection and planning. Was that you this year? If so, how did it go?
Maybe it wasn’t you. Maybe watching your Spotify Wrapped was as much 2023 reflection as you could handle. And as for 2024 - you may just be hoping for the best. If that’s you - no judgement here!
Either way… I want to offer a suggestion. Find yourself some quiet time and think about the following questions. (You may even want to take notes.)
How do you want to spend your time in 2024?
More specifically, how do you want to invest your time?
Seriously - take a few moments to reflect on whether it feels different to think about investing your time, rather than just spending it. What might it do to your 2024 plans if you consciously invested your time?
How closely does your list of time investment ideas line up with your current schedule? Are any changes in order?
With whom do you want to spend your time in 2024?
Of course, you know I’m going to turn this one around too! Who are the people in your life who give you an outstanding return on investment when it comes to your time? Who do you love being with?
How closely do those folks line up with the ones you’re actually spending time with? Are any changes in order?
Whether we take time to plan out our year or not.
Whether we consciously invest our time.
Whether we simply spend our time.
Whether we passively allow time to pass
The fact is - the clock is always running! Do you best to enjoy each and every moment!
Hey Patrick, Happy New Year to you! I enjoyed the last email. It's been awhile-how are you?
