As MORTALS, we're keenly aware that we have a limited time on this earth - and that things can come to an end anytime, and often without warning.
The question is... are we living accordingly?
Try this out. Finish this sentence:
Life is too short to...
or alternatively "Life is too short for..."
I think it's important that we take the right approach to this exercise. It's not about having a sense of anger or exasperation, as in "Life is too short for this shit!"
Instead, it's about having a sense of releasing and letting go of things that really don't deserve the level of energy and attention we're currently giving them.
(Side note: I see all sort of memes and comments on social media about having zero f*cks to give, or not giving a f*ck and so on. I credit/blame Mark Manson's article (which he later turned into a book) called The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck. But the thing is... his message wasn't just about throwing your hands up and saying "I don't give a f*ck". Instead, it was about being very clear that we need to be vigilant about where we spend out energy and attention. There are things about which we DO need and want to give a f*ck. So save your f*cks for those things.)
This week there’ll be a million things vying for your attention. If you find that something is dragging down your spirit and energy, check-in with yourself to see if it's really worth it. If not, simply say "Life is too short for this" and let it go.
